Head of Mustafa Prize Mahdi Saffari Nia said that Mustafa Prize and the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) reached an agreement on granting sabbatical to Muslim researchers.

Addressing the ceremony for granting COMSTECH award which was held under Mustafa Prize support, Saffari Nia said: Based on the agreement made by Mustafa Prize with COMSTECH, research opportunities are presented to U-45 scientists in the Islamic World.

The Mustafa Prize is an international non-governmental organization and its most important mission is to hold the biennial Mustafa (PBUH) award, as well as the annual holding of other programs for scientific development at universities and scientific centers levels.

Mustafa Prize with the aim of creating synergy and improving the capacity of science and technology and innovation activists in the Islamic world and to play an effective role in materializing the modern Islamic civilization and training the young generation and building the capacity in producing science and technology in accordance with the values ​​and needs of society has implemented a project to support research opportunities for young scientists in cooperation with reputable scientific and research institutions in the Islamic world, he added.

The cooperation and development of science and technology in the Islamic countries, policy making, capacity building and creating opportunity, encouraging students and technologists and professors, institutionalizing communication and scientific cooperation, and exchanging international knowledge are among the objectives of this cooperation plan, he stated.

Meanwhile, the head of COMSTECH for human resources affairs Syed Aftab Hussain Zaidi said that COMSTECH award is usually granted by the President of Pakistan as the Chairman of COMSTEC in the General Assembly meeting.

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the award has been granted in a ceremony with the presence of limited people and in the countries where the winners live.

24 scientists from Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Sudan, and Pakistan have received this award, he said.
